65 AP natives repatriated from strife-torn Sudan: APNRTS

   Out of the 71 Telugu people identified from Andhra Pradesh who were stuck in Sudan, 65 have been repatriated to India so far, according to APNRTS president Venkat S Medapati. He said that as per the directives of Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, the distressed Telugus of AP coming from Sudan to various international airports were being safely transported to their homes by AP Bhavan officials, Delhi, APNRTS & designated district administration officials.
     So far, 71 Telugu people of Andhra Pradesh were identified to be struck in Sudan and 65 of them have been repatriated to India and of the remaining six members one (01) member reached Jeddah, one (01) member reached port of Sudan and four (04) members will reach port of Sudan soon and then make their way to India with MEA help.
    Out of a total of 71 identified, 58 members registered for repatriation and 52 of the registered members reached India so far. As per the MoHFW advisory guidelines one (01) member at Delhi and four (04) members at Cochin were quarantined due to lack of yellow fever vaccine certificate, and the remaining 47 members reached their homes in Andhra Pradesh safely. Unregistered members also reached AP safely over the last three days.
    Venkat S Medapati said that Telugu people from Sudan reaching New Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore and Cochin airports were being safely repatriated to their hometowns. Government of Andhra Pradesh provided local flight, ground transportation and other logistical support to 24 distressed Telugus of AP coming from Sudan so far. While AP Bhavan Officials, Delhi and APNRTS arranged for local transportation to Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam and Tirupati by airways and roadways, designated district administration officials are assisting in transportation to their hometowns.     Himanshu Shukla, Additional Resident Commissioner, AP Bhavan in Delhi, APNRTS CEO P Hemalatha Rani and staff under the guidance of Mutyala Raju, Secretary (GAD) are coordinating for the safe return of Telugu people belonging to Andhra Pradesh.
   Returnees from Sudan expressed gratitude to the Government of India & Prime Minister for proactively initiating the evacuation programme through "Operation Kaveri" and thanked Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy for repatriating to their homes safely by arranging local transportation facilities.
